Help Us to Help You

  Help us to help you
With appointments

Please try to attend your appointments on time. If you are late you not only hold up the doctor but all the patients for the remainder of the surgery. The doctor or nurse may be unable to see you if you are more than 15 minutes late.

If you are unable to attend, please cancel your appointment with as much notice as possible. Such appointments are very useful for other patients.

Your doctor tried to keep to time. Please be patient. Please ask the receptionist for an extended appointment if you problem may need longer than 10 minutes.

Please try to avoid bringing in lists of problems to one appointment. It is preferable to make several appointments with only one or two problems.

When possible, if you need repeat prescriptions, request them at reception and not during your consultation.

We aim to see patients within 20 minutes of their appointment time. If not, an explanation, will be given. If for any reason you have been waiting for over 30 minutes, please speak to the receptionist.

Other issues

The out of hours service is an emergency service. Please try to use it as such.

If you are unable to work due to illness, your employer will provide you with an SC2 certificate to cover the first seven calendar days of lost work. After this, you will need to be seen by a doctor for further certification.

Patients are responsible for telephoning the surgery for test results. Please telephone between 12.00-2.00pm or utilise the online request system. Click here for details

Please feel free to phone and leave a message for any staff member. They will endeavour to phone back as soon as possible. We would be grateful if you could phone in after 11.00am as the phone lines become less busy. Or alternatively, click to leave a message.

Rights and Responsibilities

You will be treated as an individual and will be given courtesy and respect at all times, irrespective of your ethnic origin, religious belief, personal attributes or the nature of your health problems. In return, we ask you to appreciate that we are all trying to satisfy the needs of all our patients and would appreciate your co-operation.

Medical staff will advise you of the treatment they think appropriate which you may discuss if you wish. No care or treatment will be given without your informed consent.

You have the right to see your health records, subject to any limitations in the law. Please ask for an information leaflet, if required.

People involved in our care, will give you their names and ensure that you know how to contact them. It is very important that you notify us of any changes of name and address. Please note that if you move out of our practice area, it will be necessary for you to register with another GP locally. A map of our area is displayed on the back of this leaflet and in our reception.

If you are dissatisfied with us or the services we provide, you have the right at any time to leave our list and register with another practice. We also have the right to have patients removed from our list. In general, we will only exercise this right in case of patients who persistently ignore their own responsibilities to us and other patients. We will remove patients who are violent or seriously abusive towards any of the practice staff immediately.

It is our job to give you treatment and advice. In the interest of your health, it is important for you to understand all the information. Please ask us if you are unsure of anything.

If a Doctor agrees that a routine referral is necessary, this will be completed and sent within one week. Urgent referrals will be made within 24 hours.

ZERO TOLERANCE

All staff at the surgery have the right to carry out their work without threat of violence. The surgery has a policy of removing from our list any patient who is physically or verbally abusive or threatening towards any member of our staff or other patients. We promise to treat all our patients with respect. In return, we feel our staff are entitled to the same respect.
